A Two-Decade Journey of Compassion, Nature, and Growth

ehargreaves2

Hello readers! It's not every day that we get to open up about our life's journey, but today, I feel compelled to share my two-decade adventure within the care sector. This has been a winding path filled with growth, compassion, and a relentless pursuit of merging my passion for nature with my dedication to helping others.

The Early Years

Two decades ago, my journey began with a desire to make a difference. I started by supporting teenagers with autism, a time that laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong calling. The opportunity to witness their growth and resilience fueled my determination to continue in this field.

Guiding Toward Recovery

Transitioning from working with teenagers, I found myself immersed in the challenging yet incredibly rewarding role of helping adults reintegrate into their communities after experiencing mental health crises. These experiences taught me the importance of empathy, patience, and the power of human connection in the healing process.

A Love for the Outdoors

Life has a funny way of revealing your true passions. For me, it was a newfound love for the great outdoors that changed everything. I embarked on a journey into the heart of nature, working in a forest school. The serenity and transformative power of the natural world were undeniable, and it was here that I completed my Forest School Leadership qualification.

Merging Two Worlds

The decision to pursue a counselling degree was a pivotal moment in my life. I aimed to merge the therapeutic benefits of counselling with the healing power of nature. This fusion became my life's mission, and I knew I was on the right path.

Navigating Life's Challenges

But life isn't always a straightforward climb. During this incredible journey, I faced numerous personal challenges. I took time out to raise my own family, a period filled with its own joys and struggles. Simultaneously, I became a caregiver for my beloved grandmother, a role that demanded great strength and love.

Through these trials, I learned that resilience is born from adversity. It's the struggles we endure that define our character and deepen our resolve to pursue our passions and make a difference in the world.

Continued Growth

Recently, I achieved another milestone by completing my Level 2 certification in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. This is just a stepping stone in my ongoing pursuit of knowledge and skills. My ultimate goal? A cabin in the woods, where I can continue to merge my love for nature with my commitment to healing.

So, dear readers, this is my story – a journey of compassion, nature, and personal growth that spans two decades. I invite you to join me as I continue down this path, sharing insights, experiences, and wisdom along the way. The cabin in the woods may still be a distant dream, but every step brings me closer to realising it, and I can't wait to share that journey with you.

Thank you for being a part of this adventure with me.
